Chicago Police are investigating the murder of an unidentified man after a body was found in a Near North Side alley last night. The victim is described as a man in his 30s, and detectives are working to identify the body and notify next of kin. A public appeal for information has been launched.

A member of the public alerted police to the body’s discovery shortly after 8pm on Friday November 25th. The body was found in an alley between East Oak Street and East Bellevue Place, and an unknown person was described by a member of the public as kneeling above the body before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Homicide Detective Bill Parker of the CPD said: “Initially, our investigation explored the possibility of a hit-and-run. It was first thought that the offender may have been checking up on the deceased after an accidental collision, before this act was interrupted by a member of the public. However, further evidence combined with the injuries found upon the body, suggest deliberate foul play. I can give no further details at this time. Our investigation is still in its early stages, and our best detectives are on the case. We are actively pursuing all leads, and we will bring the offender to justice. If anyone saw anything suspicious in the area on the evening of November 25th, we urge them to contact the CPD as soon as possible.”

We will keep this story updated as further details emerge.
